1. Alarm Tone Songs

One user commented, “All songs that were ever my alarm tone.”

Another user added, “That’s why I don’t want to put a song for my alarm because I know I’ll end up hating it due to the psychological association. The alarm sound I had throughout high school still fills me with existential dread when I hear it.”

One commenter replied, “Miss Jackson by Panic at the Disco is forever ruined for me. It was the sound of getting up at five to work freight at a store.”

A Redditor also shared, “Panic is my favorite band of all time, and my husband kept setting their songs as his alarms that he snoozes and let’s go off multiple times. I had to make him stop.”

A Redditor shared, “1-877-Kars-4-Kids.”

Another user replied, “The Bad Place theme song.”

“Thank God you said it. I was hoping someone did,” one user added.

3. Meghan’s Trainor’s “Made You Look”

“I don’t know the names of them, but the ‘I can have my Gucci on’ and ‘I am your mother’ both by Meghan Trainor,” one user posted with distaste.

One user replied, “I hate that first one.”

Another commented, “She is the P.T. Cruiser of musicians.”

Another added, “That mother song is especially confusing to me. She says she’s his mother, and he listens to her but then says, ‘Stop mansplaining; I bet you want to wife this; my husband can teach you about being a real man.’ But you’re his mother? Huh?”

“Came here to say, Meghan Trainor. I feel like I’m allergic to her,” one user responded.

4. Justin Bieber’s “Yummy”

One Redditor shared, “Justin Bieber’s “Yummy.” Second place goes to Meghan Trainor’s ‘Me Too,’ but that narcissistic track is a guilty pleasure of mine.”

One replied, “I’ve never heard of that song ‘Yummy’ before; let’s look up the lyrics. First verse:

‘Yeah, you got that yummy-yum

That yummy-yum, that yummy-yummy

Yeah, you got that yummy-yum

That yummy-yum, that yummy-yummy

Say the word. On my way’ What.”

One user commented, “And don’t forget that Yummy is a Grammy-nominated song. Another funny thing about that song is that he tried so hard to get it to go #1. He even told his fans to leave the song on mute and loop it. Still couldn’t get past The Box by Roddy Ricch. Roddy never had a #1 at that point and got one simply because of the ‘ee er’ memes.”

Another responded, “Ya, it was completely social media engineered into a good album. They paid people to promote it relentlessly, so much so that bots were actually caught spelling the album name wrong. Grammys have lost all meaning, and I don’t remember the last time I tuned in. It’s not a music contest; it’s a popularity contest.”

5. Pharrell Williams’ “Happy”

One user posted, “Happy by Pharrell. They forced us to do some dance… at the casino I used to work at, and they edited the video to make it look like working there was a fun time. It wasn’t. It s*cked…”

Another commenter replied, “Fun fact: that song was made for the movie ‘Despicable Me 2.’ Make of that what you will.”

“I was also forced to dance to that song…in uniform and information on camera for the base news. I didn’t at first. Then our First Sergeant screamed at me to ‘START DANCING.’ That was the lowest point of my enlistment, luckily,” one Redditor said.

Another user responded, “Makes me wanna commit arson…”

One user added, “I was a depressed teenager when this song came out. I absolutely hated it every time this song came on.”

Another commenter said, “Back when this song was #1 on the charts, meaning it was playing on the radio every… 30 mins, I was bartending and not in a great mental place for unrelated reasons. I had a regular customer that came in almost every single day, would get absolutely trashed, and then play this… song on the jukebox every 15 mins. She would ALWAYS pay to ‘play next,’ regardless of anyone’s [complaining] about it, and if I skipped it, there would be h- to pay. All I see when I hear that song is that skinny [woman] Tammy clapping rhythmically to it while I watch her s- down Michelob ultras and keep lighting her… Marlboro lights inside the bar…”

6. Shangri-Las’s “Remember (Walking in the Sand)”

“Oh no.Oh no. Oh no, no, no,” shared one user.

Another Redditor replied, “I’ve never heard that song, and I know TikTok has ruined it for me.”

“The original song Remember by The Shangri-las was a classic and a great dramatic song. They took the best part of it, sped it up, and took a giant s- on it,” another user added.

One user concluded, “Tiktok brings me hate.”

7. Tones and I “Dance Monkey”

One user shared, “Dance Monkey, it’s my 13th reason.”

Another user replied, “I worked in a kitchen when that song got popular and heard it multiple times a shift. Wanted to jump into the deep fryer.”

One user commented, “It’s still on the godforsaken playlist where I work, and I have considered burning down the building.”

8. Anything by Maroon 5

One user commented, “Maroon 5. The more recent it is, the worse it gets.”

Another user replied, “Songs About Jane will always be their best album. Their newer stuff is just awful.”

One commenter replied, “Songs About Jane will always be their best album. Their newer stuff is just awful.”

“Memories by Maroon 5 would probably cause me to have a psychotic break if I was forced to listen to it too long—absolutely horrific song. I think I’d rather spend eternity riding ‘It’s a Small World,’” another Redditor said.

9. Newsong’s “The Christmas Shoes”

“That ‘[The] Christmas Shoes’ song makes me homicidal,” posted one user.

Another user commented, “This was my go-to prank in middle school; instead of Rickrolling, I used Christmas shoes. When people left their phones unattended, they got a Christmas shoes ringtone. If they didn’t know the song, I’d make out like I was showing them a new band and act surprised they didn’t like it.”

10. Alicia Keys’s “This Girl Is on Fire”

“‘This Girl is on Fire’ sounds drastically out of tune, and I feel like I’m the only one who thinks that,” one user commented.

One user shared, “This GiRl iS oN FY-YAR!!!”

Another user exclaimed, “Stop singing, Alicia Keys, and help her!”

One user explained and posted, “I’m not claiming that this is the case, but artists will hit notes flat/sharp or completely out of key because the dissonance can add great emotion and tension. I can’t remember which, but I watched an interview with one of Adele’s producers talking about her hitting a note a full 50 cents sharp in one of her recent tracks. Auto-tune has gotten so good that we’ve become accustomed to hearing popular music completely in tune, and human error is now becoming ‘fresh.’

Source-ish: I produce music as a hobby and watch tons of random YouTube videos and interviews, etc. This isn’t a statement on the Alicia Keys track one way or another, just information from someone mildly-knowledgeable.”

Another user added, “I hate it. Like, what rhymes with fire? Fire, repeatedly. You know what? Every sentence will end with fire from now on. This girl is on fire, the world is on fire, fire is on fire, fireman on fire, she is on flames cause that isn’t fire, but she is still on fire.”

11. Gayle’s “Abcdefu”

One user posted, “‘ABCDEFU.’ That song makes me want to puke my… guts up.”

Another user commented, “God, I heard a couple of days ago a version that goes ‘ABCDEFGH I love you.’ Nearly lost control of my car due to the cringe.”

One Redditor replied, “This song is peak high school angst.”

12. Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song”

“‘Fight Song’ by Rachel Platten,” shared one user.

Another user replied, “That song feels like it was specifically manufactured to appeal to 12-year-old girls that didn’t make the track team. I actually don’t hate her voice, but yeah, the song [is terrible].”

One user posted, “Ahh, I hate this one too. It’s so forced positive.”

13. Imagine Dragons’ “Thunder”

One user shared, “Imagine Dragons—’Thunder’. It was so overplayed when it came out.”

Another user replied, “I will never understand the logic behind tuning some of the ‘thunders’ up to make it sound like a… four-year-old. I could probably stand the song otherwise, but that always just breaks my brain.”

Another user responded, “Nothing more thunderous than the vocals of a stuttering helium-filled chipmunk.”
