Is Money Well Legit Or A Scam? (Honest 2023 Review!)

Nowadays, there are dozens of ways to make money on your phone right from the comfort of your own home.

Apps that pay you to play games are a perfect example. This new category of money-making apps let you earn cash and gift cards in exchange for playing new mobile games in your spare time.

Money Well, a gaming rewards app for Android, is a perfect example. This app has over 10 million downloads, and it says you can earn gift cards and PayPal cash in exchange for trying out new games.

But is Money Well legit? And how much can you actually make by using this app? I downloaded the app to test it out. And my Money Well review is covering how this app works and its earning potential so you can decide if it’s worth using.

What Is Money Well?

Money Well is a gpt app that pays you for downloading and playing new Android games. The app currently has over 10 million downloads, making it one of the most popular gaming rewards apps alongside apps like Mistplay and Rewarded Play.

JustDice, the company that owns Money Well, has plenty of other games in this genre as well. Popular titles include the likes of Cashyy, Cash Giraffe, and many others.

Like its other games, Money Well is completely free to download and is available in the United States, Canada, Australia, the UK, and many European countries.

Like other similar apps, Money Well pays you to try out new mobile games. In exchange for playing, you earn tickets which are redeemable for free PayPal cash and a range of gift cards.

That’s all there is to it. There aren’t other earning methods like paid surveys or sponsored offers to complete. All you have to do is download Money Well, explore its games library, and then download new games to begin earning rewards.

Is Money Well Legit?

Yes, Money Well is legit, and the app lets you earn PayPal money and free gift cards in exchange for playing new mobile games. It also has over 10 million downloads and an average rating of 4.3 stars out of 5, so it’s very popular.

Most negative Money Well reviews come from users who are unhappy with the game variety or the fact that you slowly earn fewer tickets the more you play a game.

This is the downside and reality for most gaming reward apps, not just Money Well. So, think of this app as a fun side hustle, not a full-time job. Although I dislike that you need to verify your identity and then login to your PayPal account to cash out.

How Does Money Well Work?

As mentioned, Money Well is similar to apps like Mistplay and other paid gaming rewards apps.

I downloaded the app to test it out for this review. It’s very easy to use, and overall, it takes four steps to earn rewards:

  • Download Money Well
  • Download sponsored games
  • Refer your friends
  • Cash out

1. Download The App

As mentioned, you can download Money Well if you have an Android device. If you have an iPhone, you should read my post on the best iOS games for money instead since Money Well doesn’t have an iOS app currently.

Also note that there’s a budgeting app called MoneyWell, so make sure you search and download the right app.

Once you download Money Well, you create an account by connecting through Facebook or Google.

You also have to grant app tracking permission to use Money Well. This lets the app track how long you play sponsored games for so it can pay you tickets properly.

Money Well sign up permission

Other gaming apps like Mistplay and Rewarded Play also have this requirement, so know that it’s normal. But if you’re not comfortable with this type of app usage tracking, this isn’t the best way to make money online.

After you grant permissions, you also receive a sign up bonus. For me, I got 4499 tickets. This helps users reach their first cash out faster which is always nice.

2. Play New Mobile Games

The main way to make money with Money Well is to download games from its sponsored library.

Every game tells you how many tickets per minute it pays. Some of the games in my Money Well library include:

One of the games in my Money Well library.

Many games pay around 70 to 150 tickets per minute. I downloaded Farm Heroes Saga, and sure enough, after playing it for a couple of minutes, I got notifications that I was receiving Money Well tickets.

However, the longer you play a game, the fewer tickets you receive per minute. This is how Money Well encourages you to keep downloading apps. If you find a game you really like, this is pretty annoying.

I also think other gaming apps like Gamehag, Rewarded Play, and AppStation have much better game variety than Money Well. This is the case where I live, anyways.

3. Refer Your Friends

Another way to earn tickets with Money Well is to invite your friends to join the app.

You earn 250 tickets for each player you invite to the app. You also receive a referral bonus commission of 25% of whatever they earn in points. Your friend also receives a 25% on your earnings – so both of you have an incentive to keep playing and earning.

To invite someone, click on the My Apps section of your app, and then click the Invite button. From there you can decide how many people to invite. Invitations to Money Well can be sent out via text or email.

This isn’t a great sign up bonus, and apps like Swagbucks and MyPoints pay you around $5 to $10 for joining. But it’s nice that Money Well pays you lifetime bonuses depending how much your friends earn.

4. Cash Out

Money Well lets you redeem your tickets for PayPal money and a range of gift cards. However, the minimum redemption amount depends on the reward you select and where you live.

For example, I need 4,999 tickets to redeem a $0.50 PayPal cash reward. Other reward options include coupons to certain stores and free gift cards to companies like:

Money Well rewards

Gift cards have various redemption requirements but generally take 10,000 to 20,000 tickets to redeem a $5 card. This makes PayPal the best and fastest method to cash out with.

However, you need to verify your identity by submitting a selfie before you cash out for the first time. This is pretty standard for reward apps. But when I tried to cash out with PayPal, Money Well also wanted me to login to my PayPal account via the app.

Generally, apps like Money Well just ask for your PayPal email address to send your reward. I don’t feel comfortable entering my login credentials for PayPal right through its app, and I find this step pretty concerning.

Ultimately, this means I have about $0.50 worth of PayPal cash on the app, but no “safe” way to cash out. And the other gift card rewards require many more tickets to redeem.

How Much Does Money Well Pay?

Most Money Well games pay around 100 to 150 tickets per minute when you first play them. This means that you can probably earn a few dollars per hour with Money Well at the start if you download and play several games.

With the sign up bonus, reaching your first $0.50 PayPal reward only takes about 10 minutes. This is similar to apps like JustPlay and Cash Cow which let you cash out every few hours.

However, since games pay fewer tickets over time, the earning potential for this app is low. You can use it to make a quick $5, but don’t expect a lot of money.

Ultimately, if you want to get paid to play video games, Money Well is a viable option. Just have realistic expectations and consider the PayPal privacy concerns.

Pros & Cons

  • Very user friendly
  • Low payout threshold
  • PayPal cash is available
  • Available worldwide

  • Only available on Android devices
  • Extremely low earning potential
  • Not all games are available in all countries
  • App can be glitchy and it’s difficult to verify your account
  • You have to login to PayPal via the app to cash out
  • Amount of tickets you earn reduces the longer you play

Other Money Well Reviews

I tested out Money Well, and overall, I think this real money gaming app is legit and easy to use. But one of the best ways to tell if a side hustle is legit or not is to see what other users have to say. And, thankfully, there are plenty of other Money Well app reviews on the Google Play Store:

  • R Brown says: “Not a scam. Money went to my PayPal within a few hours. I did notice at times maybe there was a connection issue for the app to track (not on my end). I’m not sure if it was random, or happened when closer to being able to cash out $10 paypal. Also be aware that the longer you play a game, the more the payout rate decreases.”
  • Kelly Archuleta says: “Waste of time! I just can’t! This app drives me absolutely nuts. There’s absolutely no way to track your game place, no progress indication. You just have to trust that it’ll credit you properly And it never does.”
  • Ronnie Vaughn says: “They do payout. The problem is they don’t credit the right amount of points to you. I played one game for an hour and got credit for 5 minutes. I have referred someone who has gotten quite a few points and it says I get 25%. I added up what I’m supposed to have received and it’s nowhere close.”
  • Fallon Barnes says: “Thus far I have cashed out 2 times successfully to my Paypal. Downside is that it takes forever to get through the suggested games. For example I’ve downloaded and played a couple of the games religiously the the ads required in those games are constant and total scams. MONEY WELL is not a scam although it does take a rediculous amount of points to cash out.”

Money Well reviews

As you can see, Money Well does payout and isn’t a scam. But many users report issues with tracking tickets and referral bonuses.

This is a downside with many gaming apps, not just Money Well. But it’s why this money-making idea isn’t too lucrative. Again, Money Well is legit and is a nice way to make money online for beginners. But don’t expect to make hundreds of dollars with this app.

If you like the idea of Money Well but want even more Android games for money to test out, you’re in luck.

Some of the best apps like Money Well you can use to earn rewards include:

Rewarded Play app

Ultimately, these ideas aren’t going to make anyone a millionaire. But they’re easy, fun jobs you can do from your phone. And if you already spend time gaming, it’s basically making money on autopilot.

Is Money Well A Scam?

Money Well isn’t a scam, and the app pays out users and has plenty of payment proof. However, many users complain that the app is glitchy. Verification problems are also common, and I dislike having to take a selfie to verify my account before cashing out.

The fact games pay fewer tickets over time is also a downside. Overall, this app isn’t a scam, but it doesn’t pay very much.

Final Thoughts

I hope this Money Well review lets you understand how this gaming app works and decide if it’s worth downloading.

Personally, I think apps like JustPlayMistplay, and Rewarded Play are much better starting points. But if you’ve already tried those apps, you can certainly branch into using Money Well.

Just have realistic expectations about how much money you can make. This app is a fun side hustle, but other gig apps or online business ideas have way higher earning potential.
