Planning to design your own print on demand toys? Interested to sell plushies in your online store but unsure how to? Here’s 9 sites to use!

Many think that toys are seasonal products to sell with print on demand. While that may be partly true, there’s smaller events all year long that would involve toy gifting and it may even be more meaningful for some.

Whether you’re looking to design toys and stuffed animals for gifting or as a merchandise for your brand, my article should cover both aspects!

In this article, I’ll be sharing 9 fulfillment sites you can use to design custom printed toys and the types of toys they offer. To make things easier, I’ve also included their list of integrations and other home products you can sell.

9 Best Print On Demand Toys Companies

1. Printify

One of the more popular print on demand fulfillment company to work with is Printify. They have a huge catalog of over 800 products you can choose from and a long list of ecommerce integrations so your orders are fulfilled automatically.

Working with a fulfillment that supplies a wide range of products allow you to cross-sell in the same store to the same audience. A person that purchases your custom plushie may consider buying baby clothes, kids accessories or hooded towels. Not leveraging on these items may mean you’re losing out on extra sales!

For toys, Printify only offers teddy bears, plushies and stuffed animals where you can design the mini t-shirt that comes with it. Clicking on the main listing will further expand the list of stuffed animals you can choose from (full list down below).

Here’s a sample of stuffed animals I created on Printify using a design I downloaded on Creative Fabrica. It’s a simple design as you won’t be able to do much for the size of the print area. Still a nice piece to gift someone!

You can choose a background color for the tee – there’s 10 color choices including the default white. You can then choose between the different furry animals, they all come in the same mini t-shirt.

2. Zazzle

If you don’t want to be setting up a separate ecommerce store e.g. Etsy or Shopify, you should sign up to a print on demand marketplace where you can sell your designed merchandise directly on the website. This is how sites like Redbubble or Zazzle works!

Although most marketplaces don’t offer customization or personalization to customers, Zazzle is one to differentiate. Most products on Zazzle can be personalized by your customers to include their own text or images. As a seller, you’ll just need to add your main design and enable the areas for personalization.

The feature is also available for toys and teddy bears. You can find two types of print on demand stuffed animals on Zazzle where one is the usual beige colored teddy bear (fulfilled by Zazzle) and one is artisan-made (not fulfilled by Zazzle). The artisan-made plushies are unique with few animal variations – list down below with images.

Here’s a sample design I made on Zazzle by clicking on the “Edit” button in the customize section of the image above. You can upload an image but I chose to create something from the icons they offer and added some text – there’s a lot of font options!

You can’t see a mock up of your final design for the artisan selection, but you can still see the design file at check out – as seen in image below.

3. Contrado

Interested in designing an all over print teddy bear? Contrado is the option for you. Instead of just placing your designs on a mini teddy shirt, your designs will cover the entire body area of the bear.

You can choose between two sizes for custom teddy bears on Contrado. Both are made using high quality suede fabric that is sewn together according to the shape of the bear hence no part can be taken off for washing.

The smaller size is suitable for playing while the larger one is meant to be a decoration. Regardless which you go for, it’s still a great gift so just decide based on their usage!

Contrado typically ships orders for teddy bears in 2-3 days and you have the option to get express shipping if you’re based in the US. Great last minute option for the holidays!

4. Bags Of Love

Love what you see on Contrado but want to source a supplier within the UK? Bags Of Love is a brand under Contrado that you should check out. They’re based in London and ships orders in the UK using Royal Mail (48 or 24).

Although Bags Of Love offers almost the same products as Contrado, they have a different feature that lets users design their products using photo collages. You can choose from their ready collage templates and simply add your photos to it – sample in the image below.

Just like Contrado, there’s two sizing options for custom teddy bears and it uses the same soft suede fabric. You can personalize the toys to purchase for yourself, sell them directly on Bags Of Love or set up a Shopify store using Contrado’s app.

5. Spreadshirt

Spreadshirt is a marketplace that’s quite similar to Zazzle as you can sell your designs directly on the website. If there’s any major difference between these marketplaces, it’s the difference in how they reward artists or sellers.

On Spreadshirt, you can design two products for toys which are teddy bears and dog stuffed animals. They both come with a mini printed t-shirt that you can customize and choose from three base colors (red, white & black).

There’s a charge of $8 for printing on the plushie’s t-shirt (front side), additional to the product’s base price of $17.99 – this makes it a total of $25.99 per piece. However, if you order more than 10 units of the same item, you’ll get 20% off so it’s about $20.79 per teddy bear.

You can also print on the back side of the teddy for another charge of $9 to make your order extra unique! Not everyone offers back printing for teddy bears.

6. SPOD

Want to sell the teddy bears you see on Spreadshirt but on your own ecommerce store? You can use SPOD! They’re a brand under the Spreadshirt Group but looks to cater to more advanced print on demand sellers that plans to sell their own white label products.

Unlike Spreadshirt, SPOD offers integrations with platforms like Shopify and WooCommerce so you can sell directly on your store without their brand labels.

SPOD carries the same kind of teddy bears and dog stuffed animals as Spreadshirt, and they’re available in the same colors. The prices are actually cheaper at $16.39 each including printing on one area but excludes any tax and shipping.

The cheaper price may be due to the extra work SPOD sellers have to do when sourcing products on SPOD instead of selling directly on a ready marketplace like Spreadshirt!

7. CustomHappy

If you’re ordering teddy bears for yourself or for a loved one but want something that’s on the cheaper side, you should consider checking out CustomHappy. Although product images are not optimized on their site, they have quite a range of home decor products and ships orders worldwide.

Their teddy bears are priced under $10 and you have the option to add shipping protection for another $1.95. The price includes front side printing so it’s quite affordable. Only drawback is, you can only upload an image to check out directly without seeing any mock ups of your design.

There are no integration options available on their site but they do offer fulfillment services for Amazon FBA, Etsy, Walmart and Shopify. As it is a small business, you’ll need to make direct arrangements with their team if you’re looking to source from them.

8. Monarch Print

Some of the major products sold on Monarch Print are teddy bears, drinkware and bags. They’re highly specialized in custom printed teddy bears where some are made with extra accessories like graduation hats – full list down below.

If you’re based in the UK and looking for teddy bears for a special occasion like graduation ceremonies, it’s best to order yours on Monarch Print. There’s free delivery for orders above £100 and if you order less e.g. just a single item, it will be delivered via Royal Mail (1st or 2nd class).

You can order teddy bears and stuffed animals with printed outfits or blank ones. As the price difference is minimal, I would recommend getting printed ones instead. There are tiered bulk discounts you can enjoy from buying more than 10 units, it starts from 2% and goes up to 57% (calculated based on their small Henry bear)!

The prices displayed includes a single front printing and you can add a back side printing for an additional £0.50 each. Customers can request a digital mockup by emailing their team and business customers can get a physical sample of the product purchased by filling up a form on the product page.

It’s also nice to know that their products are made in-house and conforms to EN71 Toy Safety Standards.

You’ll just need to upload photos of the front, back and side view of your dream plush design, then determine the size you want the product to be (in inches). Give it a name then a short description for their designers to make a real sample for you to confirm.

In the same form, you’ll have to select your color choices for the plushie from their palette of 39 colors. This will provide their designers an exact color code to work with. Once you submit the form, their team will send you an instant quote.

Totally free! Plus ordering anything more than 50 units on Stuffed Animal Pros will get you immediate bulk discounts.

If you’re looking to order less than 50 units (but more than 10) and want to enjoy discounts, it is recommended that you order from their sister company, Budsies. On that site, you can take photos of any simple drawing (even unprofessional ones) to turn it into a real unique toy!

How To Start Selling Print On Demand Toys

1. Choose a niche for your designs
   • Niching down is great to attract the right audience with your print on demand toys
   • Some examples would be toys designed with food, alphabets, numbers or even short quotes
   • Focus on your chosen niche for the next 100 designs!

2. Do research on best selling and trendy designs
3. Make your own designs or outsource
   • You can make your own designs using Kittl or Canva
   • If you want to buy designs, get them on Creative Fabrica or Envato Elements
   • Some important things to know are design file sizes and printing layout (if any)
4. Sign up for an account with any of the sites I’ve listed above
   • You’ll have to create an account with one of the sites I’ve mentioned above to start selling
   • Choose one supplier that resonates to you the most with the right products you’ve envisioned for your toy business
5. Upload designs to products
   • Uploading designs to supplier’s products is super easy and you should be able to do this once an account is created
   • Position the design correctly when uploading as the actual product will look the same as what you see online
6. Set a suitable profit margin for each product
   • On most sites, you should be able to set a selling price once you’ve done uploading the design
   • A suitable margin should be 40%-50% depending on the platform you’re selling on and any fees you’ll incur on each sale
   • This excludes shipping charges to customers!

7. Sync them to your ecommerce store
   • You would need to integrate your ecommerce store e.g. Etsy or Shopify before you’re able to sell so do that first
   • Sync the ready product to your store to start selling them publicly
   • Sites like Spreadshirt have their own marketplace for you to sell your products – so you don’t need a separate store to use them
8. Start selling and repeat!
   • Repeat the process and you’ll get some sales with time!
   • Increase your chances of success by uploading more quality designs and using professional mockup tools like Placeit
   • Consider bringing in traffic to your store with ads (if you’re not selling on a marketplace)
